There’s a simple test of our success and that is the reaction of our customers.
Students appreciate the change. That’s why we’ve doubled, and often trebled, uptake in every school we’ve gone into – at a time when the rest of the sector has experienced a 25-30% decline.
School leaders appreciate the change. The headteachers in our schools are all passionate advocates of the transformation we have made, reporting that it has really helped them improve the atmosphere and, in some cases, change the culture of the school. They are delighted that more students are using school catering and are eating more healthily. They also report improved attendance, behaviour and litter as a result.
Ofsted has described our catering facilities as excellent and as having given a real boost to student involvement and healthy eating.
We have also featured on national BBC News as one of the very few success stories in a sector otherwise beset by difficulty.
